It’s sunny, a light covering of fluffy snow melts under the mid-day sun…

New Yorker’s talking about getting to Florida

not the most fun, however, St. Peter’s in Albany isn’t too bad. Peeps here seem to be happy, smiling and pleasant to each other and the ‘customers’.
Free wifi.
Had a tasty egg cheese and fried bologna sammy for breakfast.
I can personally recommend Truman’s Restaurant and Grill. The Butcher’s Block was quite tasty too!

We wait .. patiently. alone with our thoughts, distracted by shiny toys or the board that scrolls ‘on time’ for individuals going to surgery. Odd – but efficient. They were out of the buzzing beepers, so we wait for the voice from above to call out ‘number 91’.

It’s good to be here with my sisters; Shari’s tired, and fretting… (she agrees that will work as a description)
Here’s a pic to make us smile.
Blood and Ma at Butcher's Block, Alb.

So… we’re here. We’re doing ok. It’s a beautiful day…

The Dresden Dolls – Delilah

so, I got all Ala Kazam! in the kitchen and whipped up some pancake batter (Boo rocks cause, well, she did the same last week, and thus I had the ingredients! Yay!) … and I have to say, they’re kinda tasty pancakes! I’ll have to figure out what you have to do to them to call them flapjacks…

It was pretty cool to have to mix stuff together before making breakfast. You know, like the 2 tbs of baking powder, which was supposed to be a 1/2 tbs – woops – scrape out the powder that doesn’t look like flour and re-read the directions! Oh, and the egg that rolled off the counter and into Blue’s water bowl, making a very kinda cool floating ball of yolk. Oh- and if you pour cold water into melted butter, it’s … well, gross. Wash out and start anew!

I’ve added water and poured to my hearts content in LexHause thanks to the generosity/forgetfulness of Declan when he left his electric griddle there. Oh the joys of pancakes…

Now, of course, I want to do it again, but better – with more perfectness – confectioners sugar, or whipped cream, or fresh fruit!!!
Different flavors of syrup!!!
Weeeeeeeee… weeeeeee … weeeee … weee… uh oh – carbcoma about to hit!!!

I’ll be heading off to the wilds of the Southern Florida landscape tomorrow. Gots to get down to the Raton of Boca and pick up the new wheels… Boo keeps saying I can’t have stickers on the car, but I think she’ll be okay with the ones I put on it. What do you think is gonna happen?

I had hoped to have a roady trippin’ adventure, complete with sidekick and scavenger hunting, but my timeline doesn’t permit that at the moment – sorry Pips and Steph, sorry Bubby.

Things about Hobbit House continue to evolve – got a shelf unit into the den – immediately filled it up with stuff and rearranged the dvds in the living room – why does it seem to be an endless chase of stuff around the rooms of our lives?

Have I mentioned the The Ultimate Steal? It’s Microsoft pricing it’s Office Suite at about what rational people would want to pay for it. I’m working on getting an .edu email so I can purchase Office 2007 – wwweeeeeeee….. if you have an .edu addy, I’d suggest getting the license for $60 – it’s a real bargain.

Wow – thought I’d have more insightful post to offer, but no – the pancakes are making me a happy ball of happiness – not necessarily a productive ball. Oh well… a little on what’s going down, and there ya go!

ciao,

Snow Patrol – Run

Ah, to have a fan club!
I had a wonderful day Saturday – chatted up MickeyMatt who’s having a great week. I like hearing that, and it certainly could be heard in his voice – here’s to his awesome 2008 getting started right away!

Headed over for a game night at L & K’s – Viv picked me up cause Boo was out for a Dresden Doll’s gig at the Carolina Theater… but I had just as good a time! We played Killer Bunnies and a game like Taboo, but not – it slips my memory what the name is. Fun, though, and they have two pups who are awesome!

Got to see a few movies over the past few weeks – saw Sweeny Todd at Northgate with Viv; caught I Am Legend solo, also at Northgate. Watched Children of Men on HBO, the last 45 mins of Death Race 2000 (there’s a remake coming… Death Race 3000!)
Sweeny was good – but dark, and broody, and not really a feel good hit of the winter.
Legend had a great moment where Will Smith speaks highly of Bob Marley’s philosophy; from the IMDB entry:
Neville: [talking to Anna about Bob Marley] He had this idea. It was kind of a virologist idea. He believed that you could cure racism and hate… literally cure it, by injecting music and love into people’s lives. When he was scheduled to perform at a peace rally, a gunman came to his house and shot him down. Two days later he walked out on that stage and sang. When they asked him why – He said, “The people, who were trying to make this world worse… are not taking a day off. How can I? Light up the darkness.
Children of Men got me to ponder what is so important to me that I’d do anything – ANYTHING – to pursue it. In the movie, the hope of mankind rested in the hands of people who either had hard choices to make and made them, or people who stepped out of their life to make sure the future had a chance… all very cool, and the movie had some very good cinematography – still, again, not a feel good hit of the winter!

Nearly finalized the paperwork on some new wheels that Pops K. got at auction down in the FLA. I’ll have to run down and grab it, and might end up putting it to the test with a 24 hr drive right after – we’ll see. I suspect I’ll stop along the way – have too, right? Just have to get it registered with the North Carolina authorities, and I’ll be on the road in a week or so!

Work about our Hobbit House continues – rearranged the bookcases on the suggestion of a friend during the great pasta and painting extravaganza last Friday. We are really happy with the new color, and the furniture is just great in there. All I have to do is get to cleaning and putting away all the dishes! When I get the divan out from the den, we’ll finally have most of the furniture where we want it (not completely set on the back porch… but we’ll see)

wow – not really a most complete post, but some bits and pieces…

5 days into the new year – two projects DONE!!! (redid the pink bench … though I will forever call it that, I’m sure; painted the dining room + got furniture)

Also, is it me, or do I keep hearing lots of stories about ROBOTS in the news? Hmmm…. awesome, I tell. That’s what 2008 is gonna be.

don’t forget about the robots, though. oh, and here’s the pics for the furniture in the painted room – still placing them properly – think we’ll have to move the low and narrow one out and replace with a different table from the living room. Weeeee…..
